Department of Information Technology, Martin Luther Christian University is proud to present the Metanoia 7th Edition, - an Annual Technical Fest. The contest was started in the year 2014 with the aim of encouraging the computer science students sharping their programining skills. Every year the students of department compete in the ultimate code debugging challenge in C programming language. Considering that every student of all fields need logical and critical thinking, concentration and creativity, three new exciting contests was introduced in the 4th Edition of BugSmash and was opened to all the students of any stream.In this 7th Edition we are inviting participants from any institutes to compete in this exciting event of technical fest Metanoia

Innovation Showcase

Submit your innovative project or idea to the Department of Information Technology Innovation Showcase Contest. Your submission may demonstrate a novel (but not mandatory) application of technology to solve real-world problems or improve existing processes. Entries can range from software applications and hardware prototypes to innovative approaches in data analysis or cybersecurity. Provide a detailed description of your project, including its objectives, methodology, and potential impact. Supplementary materials such as videos, demos, or prototypes are encouraged but not mandatory.Entry will be selected based on creativity, feasibility, potential impact, and alignment with the goals of the Department of Information Technology. Selected participants will be invited to showcase their projects at the Innovation Showcase event, where winners will be announced and prizes awarded. By submitting your entry, you agree to allow us to showcase your project and share information about it with the public.

BugSmash

Find the Bug

Rules
  • Participants will engage in debugging challenges focused on C programs and HTML code. During the contest, each participant will be provided access to a computer lab equipped with necessary development environments.
  • Participants will be given a set of pre-written C programs or HTML code snippets containing bugs.
  • Your task is to identify and fix as many bugs as possible within the given time frame.
  • Participants are allowed to use any debugging techniques and tools available within the provided environment.
  • The use of external resources, including the internet, is not permitted during the contest.
  • Each bug fixed will earn you points based on its complexity and difficulty.
  • In case of ties, the participant who fixes the bugs with the highest complexity will be ranked higher.
  • Your solutions must adhere to coding standards and best practices.
  • Prizes will be awarded to the top-performing participants interm of the speed and the number of bug rectified.
  • The organizers reserve the right to modify the rules and contest format if necessary. Any changes will be communicated to participants in a timely manner.
  • The decision of the judges will be final

Tech Pictionary

Tech Pictionary is a creative and entertaining game where participants draw various ITrelated terms, ranging from hardware and software components to programming languages, internet phenomena, and emerging technologies, other players eagerly attempt to decipher the drawings and guess the correct terms.

How to Play and Rule of the Game
  • Teams take turns sending a player to draw while the rest of the team guesses what is being drawn on IT-related concepts without using words.
  • Teams earn points for correctly guessed words or phrases and the team with the most points wins.
  • Rotate the drawing responsibility among team members to ensure everyone gets a chance to participate.
  • The game will be played for a set number of rounds, or until one team reaches a predetermined point goal.
  • There will be penalties for breaking the rules, such as deducting points or skipping a turn.
  • Have Fun! Remember that the primary goal is to have fun and enjoy the game together

Rules
  • No more than 6 players (including the team leader) can join the event as a team. Only registered players will be able to play in the tournament.
  • All the matches will be played in Custom Draft Pick
  • Teams are requested to enter the lobby 10 minutes before the scheduled time
  • The team leader/co-leader must follow the match referee in game, before the scheduled time
  • Each team will get a maximum of 2 minutes pause once in every match in case of any need (i.e. connection issue)
  • The management panel may ask for the device login history anytime from any player and the player must be bound to submit his device login history
  • Any kind of game or UI modification, scripts and hacking tools are prohibited. If any player is detected of using such unfair means, they along with the team will be disqualified and necessary steps will be taken
  • If any of the rules is broken, not followed or misused by any team, then they might be disqualified
  • The organizers hold the right to change any rules & regulations or add new ones if it seems necessary
  • Qualification start from 20/4/2024 online
  • We will check all player phone for suspicious applications

Encounters the mystery (Sudoku Challenge)

One of the most popular games of all time, Sudoku is a Japanese game based on the logical placement of numbers. It doesn't require any calculation nor special math skills; all that is needed is a brain and concentration skills. The goal of Sudoku is to fill in a 9x9 grid with digits so that each column, row, and 3x3 section contain the numbers between 1 to 9.

Rules
  • The contest is individual
  • All participants are required to report 10 minutes before the schedule
  • Time Limit – 30 Minutes
  • If a participant completes the puzzle before the time frame, he/she will be evaluated and if it is correct then he/she will be declared “Winner”
  • If none of contestants can successfully solve the Sudoku puzzle within time limit of 30 minutes, the winner will be decided by counting numbers of correct answer placed into the puzzle. The contestant who fills in the most correct answers will be the winner
  • The decision of the judges will be final

As Computer has become a part and partial of many of our lives, Typing is not an optional skills any more. As a student or as an employee, the heat for the need for the speed is always felt. Students require it for the speedy completion of their assignments whether they're submitted as softcopy or printed hard copy. Many employers require computer skills and a good typing speed to even consider for some positions. This contest is your chance to put your typing skill to the test and have a chance to be crowned as the fastest typist of the University.

Rules

  • The game will be in a knockout stage and only the finals will be best of 3.
  • Players can bring their own periferals(keyboards and mouse and also mousepad) if they want.
  • Players should report 15 mins before their match and 15 mins they'll get to warm up before the game including to setup everything for their game.
  • Players are required to bring their student/college Id.
  • If there is any technical issue, a timeout will be there and each team gets two timeout.
  • Map decision will be on a coin toss, and the winner of the coin toss will get to choose which map they want to play.
